| Baby Steps!
With the new year stretching out before us, it is natural to look at this as an opportunity to create new intentions and revisit our priorities.
It's wonderful to dream big, but one of the ways we can sabotage ourselves is by over reaching and taking too big of a step toward our goals at once, trying to jump from point A to point D, as that is where we think we should be. We can judge ourselves too harshly or compare ourselves to others. Remember that even though we are all connected, our journey is unique to us, and that divine timing does not always cooperate with our personal time table.
If our efforts don't create the results we were intending, we can fall into the dangerous trap of perceiving ourselves as a failure, and relinquish our dreams.
I invite you to give yourself credit for taking action toward what is calling you. Be gentle with yourself. Taking daily baby steps are a natural and effortless way to slowly integrate the new behavior or goal into existence in a way that will ultimately become the truest part of you.
If you ever find yourself disheartened please remember that January 1st is a man made event. There is an ever present opportunity to begin again every day, every moment, that we are graced with another breath.
Wishing you every blessing in this moment,
Beth Ann
8 Ways to Fake 8 Hours
- Smooth Operator. If you can't train yourself to sleep on your back, use a satin pillowcase to ward away unwanted wrinkles. They really work!
- Revive sleepy skin with a cold water splash, coolness constricts the blood vessels, imparting a smoother and more toned look. Or spritz with Cosmedix Mineral Mist $35, a super hydrating and refreshing aromatherapy mist that you can use on the go, or over your make-up during the day for an instant glow.
- Seal the Deal. Slather on a rich occlusive moisturizer like Bio-Lipid Repair Creme $47. A rich cream will help diminish flakiness and wrinkles will be less obvious.
- Get Even. If your skin still looks lifeless, dip a washcloth in a mix of milk and ice cubes. Wring out the cloth, place on your face for five minutes, then rinse. The combination of the pH of the milk and the cold will help calm redness, soothe and brighten.
- Deflate Lids. De-puff with De-Circling Serum $45. I keep mine in the refrigerator for a morning 911!
- Go Lightly. Skip heavy foundation, and dust lightly with Mineral Makeup $25. The minerals bring a natural luminescence and diminishes appearance of fine lines. Looks like your skin, only better!
- Remember To Stretch. Open up sleepy eyes by applying an additional coat of mascara in the center for a longer looking fringe.
- Blush Brightly. A peach cream blush beats pink for a quick pick me up. Peach tones brighten skin and take the focus away from dark circles. Cream formulas leave a slight dew on cheeks, like a flush of youth. You could also apply some to lips over balm for a soft hint of color.

I love this because I always have these ingredients on hand to make this amazing and simple appetizer.
1/4 cup Walnuts
1 can Artichoke Hearts in water, drained well and chopped
1 cup Baby Spinach, chopped
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
(optional)
2 Tbs. your best Olive Oil
3 Tbs. fresh (not bottled) Lemon Juice
Salt and Pepper
- Heat oven or toaster oven to 400 degrees. Spread walnuts on baking sheet, tossing occasionally till fragrant, about 6 to 8 minutes. Cool, then chop.
- In a medium size bowl, combine the artichoke hearts, spinach, Parmesan, oil, lemon juice, walnuts, and salt and pepper to taste. Serve with crackers (I like KA-ME Rice Crackers for their distinctive crunch) to very appreciative company!
