Song For A Dolphin
My brother recently shared a beautiful story I felt compelled to share. He is a doctor who lives in Hawaii specializing in end of life care.
A music therapy program was offered at a hospital he worked at where he got to see some amazing results first hand.
He remembered a wonderful man who had a profound spiritual experience saving a beached dolphin.
The man shared the story of how he cradled the dolphin and helped it with its breathing for hours, waiting for a group of rescuers to arrive.
During those hours he developed a deep bond with the dolphin with prolonged eye contact.
They succeeded in saving the dolphin and the man remembered encountering the dolphin again as he felt it returned to look for him, perhaps to offer its gratitude.
The music therapist worked with him to write a song based on a poem about his experience. For inexplicable reasons the patient rallied and lived MUCH longer than anyone expected.
All that it could be attributed to was the healing power of song and this deeply meaningful memory.
Is there some music that soothes your soul? Why not try a little music therapy for yourself?
Try playing something peaceful to wind down at night before you sleep. I guarantee your dreams will be all the sweeter for it!
Happy Trails,
Beth Ann
