Attracting Miracles Part 2

In our last issue we discussed the awareness of miracles. In this edition we will discuss how we can bring more miracles into our lives.

Having faith is a key component when it comes to attracting  miracles. However this can be difficult, especially when we have experienced hardships. But faith and gratitude is something we have to express everyday. This helps create the space that allows the positive energy to flow.

When we were children it was easy to have faith because we were able to believe in the impossible. We could turn a cardboard box into a rocket ship to some faraway planet, or wrap ourselves in sheets and be Egyptian royalty. We believed, because we could allow ourselves to be enveloped by our dreams. It was easy to have faith because we were already acting "as if" our dreams had come true.

When we fantasize about our dreams, we change our entire body on a physiological level. When we are daydreaming, the happiness produced actually boosts our immune system and helps us deal with stress. When you act "as if" you already have your miracle, you are creating an environment ripe for them to show up.

When we have faith, the miracles surround us and guide us toward our higher purpose.

But remember the bean sprout? Our miracles may come simply as gentle nudges to change direction, or reminders to act on our intuition. Just because your miracle isn't the parting of the Red Sea, does not mean it isn't a miracle!

A Great Hat Alternative

For those of you who want to take a step towards better skin health and my best prescription for anti-aging, check out the cool wide-brimmed convertible visors I carry. I have actually had people stop me when I am out, and ask me where I got mine!

They are easy and convenient to throw in your bag or car so that you always have the extra protection when you need it. I keep one in the car at all times, as so much of the cumulative damage occurs while we are driving!

Protect Yourself Head To Toe

Most of you know the importance of wearing sunscreen to protect skin from dangerous UV rays, but still resist the most important protection of using a hat. I have mentioned many times that a sunscreen will only stop you from burning, but will not do much to prevent skin cancer, brown spots or wrinkles.

Here's some news that may help you to rethink the hat issue. Skin cancer of the scalp only accounts for about 2% of all cases, yet can be unusually aggressive and often goes too long unnoticed, because it occurs in an area that is hard for one to see.

I have personally discovered it on some of my client's heads, and they had no idea there was anything there!

Green Apple and Blue Cheese Coleslaw with Toasted Walnuts

1 cup Canola Oil
1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbs. Dijon Mustard
2 to 3 Tbs. Honey or *Agave Nectar
2 Tbs. Sweet Onion, minced
1/2 tsp. Thyme
Salt and Pepper to taste
3 cups Purple Cabbage, shredded
1 Granny Smith Apple, thinly sliced
2 large Carrots, shredded
3 Scallions, finely diced
1/3 cup Walnut pieces, toasted
1/2 cup Blue Cheese, crumbled

Place first six ingredients in blender; pulse to combine. Add salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate until ready to use. Combine cabbage, apples, carrots and scallions. Toss with just enough dressing to coat. Season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Add walnuts and blue cheese just before serving.

*Interesting note on Agave Nectar: The nectar is made from the juice of a spiky plant that grows throughout the southwest and Mexico. Their nectar is like honey and is harvested similar to maple syrup from a maple tree. It is 1.4 times sweeter than sugar, but has a low glycemic index which means it doesn't stimulate insulin or cause a "sugar rush" like most sweeteners. It also dissolves well in hot or cold beverages, making it delicious in herbal iced tea.
