With some long hot summer days ahead (at last!), I'm looking for
ways to help keep my cool. Have you tried making sun tea? It's kind
of fun and couldn't be easier! In the morning, simply fill a glass
pitcher or big jar with filtered water and throw in the tea bags of
your choice. Leave in a sunny place, (kids love participating in
this). When you return home in the evening, a refreshing drink will
be waiting for you. Just add ice and lemon if you like.
Tea is full pf antioxidants that help us combat the free radical
damage inflicted by everyday life, including pollution and stress.
The beverage also is known to be packed with amino acids and L-theamine,
which elicits a state of calm, stimulates the mind, and heightens
alertness and focus without the jitters associated with coffee.
Enjoy and Keep Cool!

Q. I have heard that Mexoryl is the latest and greatest
sunscreen ingredient out there, do you know when it will be
available in the States?
A. I have been asked many times about Mexoryl. The
greatest quality Mexoryl has is its lack of availability, which has
driven up demand and price at the consumer level. Due to delays from
the FDA, Mexoryl has yet to be allowed into US formulations. My
problem with Mexoryl is that because it is a chemical sunscreen, it
still allows the sun to penetrate allowing free radical damage.
Titanium and Zinc continue to outperform Mexoryl by offering UVA/UVB/UVC
blocking capabilities. This includes Reflect,
Serious
Protection, Protect, and our Mineral Makeup.
Q. I'm concerned about antiperspirants link to breast cancer
and Alzheimer's disease. I have been trying without much luck to
find a natural deodorant that really works in the summer heat. Do
you have any suggestions?
A. I need to thank Valerie, the owner of The Natural Food
Exchange in Stoneham for turning me on to Liquid Rock. It is
available in several lovely fragrances and really works! I am
carrying it for your convenience or you can pick it up at The
Natural Food Exchange. Valerie is extremely knowledgeable and
supportive, and can help with any special dietary needs, as her
store is specifically geared toward finding delicious healthy
alternatives.
