Every Day A Special Day
As I grow older and become less
and less surprised at how life can bring drastic changes in a nano-second,
I am working at treating seemingly ordinary events as the
potentially extraordinary events that they might indeed be.
Life is so fragile, so very
unpredictable. There is no guarantee whether I will ever see another
sunset, hug that friend, feel the warm beach sand or go to my
favorite restaurant. I have no way of knowing whether anything that
happens won't be my last opportunity to experience it, and be
grateful for it.
My wish to all of us this
holiday season, and the coming year, is that we have glimpses of how
once-in-a-lifetime events may be taking place all around us, and
that we are graced with whatever it takes to truly appreciate them.
Wishing you a special day, every day,
Beth Ann |

Radiant
Holiday Skin
While the holidays are a time of good friends and cheer, they are
also a time when good skincare practices often fall to the wayside.
It's easy to go overboard during the holidays, and it's just as
easy for impurities from alcohol, sugar and sodium to set in, making
one feel sluggish and look exhausted.
I offer the following tips to help support you and your skin in
enjoying a healthy and happy holiday season.
- No matter how exhausted you may be when you kick off your
heels at the end of the night, never forget to remove your makeup.
- Unwind, detoxify and de-stress with an aromatherapy bath at
least once a week. I love and recommend the therapeutic
Dresdner Baths from Germany.
- Upon waking, drink a mug of warm water with lemon. This will
help get your system going in a natural way. Also, the body
dehydrates while you sleep, which can make the skin appear dull
and dry.
- I recommend all my clients use the extraordinary Venta
Airwasher in their bedroom to cleanse the air and humidify. Find
out more at
www.venta-airwasher.com. You can use one of the 20% off Bed &
Bath coupons you get in the mail.
- The best thing for the body (besides keeping up with your
exercise program) is a full nights sleep. Lack of rest can
compromise the immune system, making you susceptible to colds,
especially during the winter.
- While you may indulge in many delicacies during the holiday
season, try to keep a healthy number of fruits and vegetables in
your diet. They contain essential vitamins that the body and skin
need to stay vibrant. Think about giving yourself a safety net
with Juice Plus+, 17
different fruits and vegetables in a convenient capsule form.
- When all else fails, take cover! Use rich and creamy
Camofleur concealer to hide darkness and Anti-Puff Eye Gel
to soothe and reduce puffiness.
- For glam party eyes, the perfect combo is Revitalash,
permanent lash lengthener, and my new favorite mascara, Lash
Blast from CoverGirl, in the funky orange packaging.
Kinda Healthy Chocolate Cake
Hey, it's the holidays, indulge a little! No eggs or
butter, but extra rich and moist like traditional devil's food, plus
a quick fix when you've got a craving that only chocolate will
satisfy!
1 cup warm Water
1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 cups All- Purpose or Whole Grain Flour
1 cup Sugar or Xylitol (see last
month's issue)
3/4 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup Canola Oil
1 Tbs. Vanilla Extract
2 tsp. White Vinegar
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees and oil 9-inch pan.
- Whisk water and cocoa in small bowl until smooth. Combine
flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Make well in
center. Add cocoa mixture, oil and vanilla. Whisk until smooth.
Whisk in vinegar. Pour into pan.
- Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 30 -
35 minutes.
- When cool, (if you can wait) dust with confectioners sugar if
desired.
